Doctors’ offices need to show common sense with patients experiencing non-COVID respiratory issues

UPDATE: After a nine-day bout with my cough, bronchitis, congestion, etc,  I found out that the urgent care near my home didn't require COVID tests to get treated, and was able to get seen by a doctor and was given a lot of meds to help nurse me back to health.

Memo to everyone who has been doing everything --- including getting vaccinated and wearing masks at indoor settings, especially stores and avoiding large crowds: Don’t get what used to be a routine cough or cold, because doctors’ offices will not see you until they put you through the ringer, demanding that you get a negative COVID test first, regardless of how severe or persistent your symptoms are.
Never mind that the cough and laryngitis that you have could get worse if you can’t get access to inhalers or other antibiotics.
The doctors’ offices could care less, which is why they had better stop lamenting that patients won’t show up for routine ailments, because there are no routine ailments any more; all that too many health care offices seem to care about is COVID ---- and they don’t care that you’re vaccinated.
My daughter has had a respiratory/bronchial thing going on for a few days. Then she gave it to me, as I developed a cough and laryngitis, but for both of us, that’s it: We have NO fever, NO aches, NO pains and we have our appetite and our full senses of smell and taste --- and we’re vaccinated, but the doctors’ offices are adamant: No COVID test, no treatment --- and given that a cough could easily develop into bronchitis or pneumonia if not treated, their policies are ill-advised.
My daughter has had hers for a few days, and also has just a cough, and even though she's prone to asthma and bronchitis, her doctor refused to see her until she got a COVID test; they don’t listen to their patients’ particular symptoms. It’s their way or the highway. (She finally tested negative, but that only delayed her treatment.)
Don’t misunderstand: the medical community and staffs at hospitals have been under severe pressure, and the anti-vaxxers --- encouraged by right-wing politicians and purveyors of misinformation --- have been threatening them, and that’s just wrong and very frightening.
But it’s also wrong for local doctors’ offices to display no common sense whatsoever about treating people who have no COVID symptoms, except a cold and-or cough, which can be attributed to the many respiratory ailments that go around at this time of the year.

Reasonable people know how tough it’s been for health care workers, but these policies by doctors’ offices to withhold any treatment without a COVID test will only make people’s illnesses linger a lot longer than they should be.
Those offices, at the very least, should grant virtual visits so the symptoms of formerly common respiratory ailments can be treated in a timely fashion.
