Some quick sports takes ...

What about the Celtics? Can the Boston Celtics recover from their disastrous 0-2 start vs. the Miami Heat in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals? The answer is yes, but it's not that likely as it will require a 360-degree turnaround from the way they've been playing.
Basketball teams have recovered from 2-0 deficits in best-of-seven series many times in the past, so the history is there. But teams who blow big leads in the third and fourth quarters, as the Celtics did in Games 1 and 2 against the Heat, make that quest much harder on themselves.
Watching the Celtics in the first two games has been frustrating for the fans, as the Celts seemed to coast after getting a big lead, and then watched helplessly as the Heat roared back.
But the main reason why it's unlikely, that the Celts will be able to come back is that the Heat are the hungrier team right now; and their players are the ones who are making the big plays at crucial times.
Fans, though, should still embrace the series and hope that the Celtics find their way. Don't forget: In these pandemic times, we should be grateful that we have sports back at all, so enjoy the run.
Sox vs. Yankees: In a normal year, my wife and I would have seen a Yankee-Red Sox game for the first time in a long time on Aug. 1 at Fenway Park thanks to a very generous gift from our daughter. But that, of course, didn't materialize, and in this 60-game schedule, this weekend's series is the only time that the Yankees will visit Fenway Park.
The Yankees, who had been scuffling, come into the series red hot, so they may very well sweep the Sox, but the Sox have been playing much better lately, so they could grab at least one game.
By the way, Sunday's Sox game will be in the afternoon, which means with the Patriots playing at night, fans can still catch both games. So my advice to Red Sox fans is this: Enjoy watching Alex Verdugo, Bobby Dalbec, Xander Bogaerts and the resurgent Rafael Devers. Those of us who missed baseball until it returned are glad that it came back, so by all means, savor the final nine games in this ridiculously shortened Red Sox season.
Patriots vs. Seahawks: Patriots fans should embrace Sunday night's nationally televised game against the Seattle Seahawks. Unlike past years, when we expected the Tom Brady-led Patriots to win every game and we were disappointed when they didn't, we should go into Sunday's game with lowered expectations. Instead of being nervous about the outcome, we should just enjoy the play of Cam Newton and the defense. And, remember: the fact that the teams are playing games at all shouldn't be taken for granted in 2020.
